La Victoria, programul începe cu filmul propus de Croaţia la premiile Oscar, THE BLACKS, unul dintre cele mai puternice filme de război venite din fostul bloc comunist. “E un film curajos. Un film care te forţează să pui sub semnul întrebării rolul umanităţii în ciclul natural al vieţii. Fără dependenţa sa de animale şi de plante, omul e un ucigaş. The Blacks e observaţional şi nu judecă. Te lasă doar fără suflare", spune Angus Wolfe Murray, EyeForFilm.co.uk.

Festivalul Internaţional de Film de la Iaşi, prin Gala filmului românesc, le oferă ieşenilor iubitori de film posibilitatea de a vedea trei filme noi: „Nuntă în Basarabia”, un film recent lansat, „Europolis” - cu avanpremiera naţională - şi „Medalia de onoare”, două filme care vor avea premiera în luna noiembrie. Sunt filme multipremiate în festivaluri naţionale şi internaţionale, foarte bine primite de critici şi public.

During this year's edition of Iasi International Film Festival (IIFF 2010), a special moment and the "Retrospectives" section are dedicated to director and script writer Dinu Cocea, who will receive the Excellence Prize for his entire activity.

Movie lovers of all ages will be able to watch some of the best known movies of the much appreciated director: Haiducii lui Şaptecai (The outlaws of Saptecai), Zestrea Domniţei Ralu (The inheritance of Lady Ralu) and Săptămâna Nebunilor (The week of the insane).

Even though the competition budget is extremely low, I managed to gather excellent films. In my opinion, the selection was even better than last year. We were lucky, but we also received the help of extraordinary people who we convinced with our enthusiasm. It is hard to find a similarity between the terms of this “eclectic gathering” (realistic films, musicals, comedies and love-stories), may be just the strong relationship between space and time and the fact that they are low-budget films, but they are however extremely succeeding when talking about their narrative and human side. Little money, big intentions, something similar to our festival, states Anca Gradinariu, IIFF 2010 artistic executive and film selector.

9 featured movies, 17 documentaries, 34 short fiction movies, 12 animation movies; this is how this year’s Iasi International Film Festival competition looks like, while other 10 movies are racing in the “Different” competition. A special moment during the festival is the “Retrospectives” section dedicated to movie director Dinu Cocea, alongside awarding the excellence prize for the entire activity.

Although at the second edition, Iasi International Film Festival (IIFF 2010) has entered the important film festivals circuit in Romania. Almost 500 films on three continents were subscribed to the four sections of the competition.
